On the EA839 twin-turbo V6, the mechanical high-pressure pump does its job in stock configuration, but as soon as you touch the ECU map (Stage 2, downpipes, E85), it quickly becomes the limiting factor. Classic symptom: the mixture goes lean under full load, cut-outs or hesitation above a certain engine speed, and a tuning software alarm flagging insufficient rail pressure.
