On track forums, the question comes up often: “Drilled or slotted? Both?”. Experienced drivers give a nuanced answer: drilling vents heat and gases, while slots keep the pads self-cleaning. Combined, they offer the best performance for mixed road/track use, but they wear pads faster than plain rotors.
