BMC Air Filter: Part No. 890/01
The original paper filter is convenient as a first fit, but once you have tried a washable cotton filter, it is hard to go back. The BMC part no. 890/01, made of multi-layer oiled cotton gauze, lets through more air than paper while trapping particles effectively. The result: better throttle response, an engine that breathes better, and no more disposable filters to buy.

Filter maintenance
Cleaning recommended every 15,000 to 20,000 km with the BMC maintenance kit (cleaner + re-oiling oil, sold separately). After washing, let it air dry, then re-oil before refitting.
