Reprog by Dynaparts: which package to choose between stage 1, ethanol and diesel?
, Our brands
Gasoline Stage 1, ethanol conversion or diesel Stage 1: Reprog by Dynaparts comes in three packs, and each one fits a different project. Before ordering, ask yourself the right questions: which engine, which fuel, what goal on the track? This guide helps you choose the right pack and prepare your vehicle so the ECU tuning goes smoothly the first time.
What exactly is the Reprog?
The Reprog is a dongle developed by Dynaparts. It plugs into the vehicle's OBD port, communicates with the engine ECU and installs a new ECU map. It is never sold on its own: each pack combines the tool and the ECU map that match your choice.
This combination makes all the difference. On forums, most bad experiences with DIY ECU tuning have the same cause: a generic tool that cannot communicate with the ECU, or a file downloaded from the internet that was never designed for the engine. With a pack, the tool and the map go together.
Which Reprog pack should you choose?
| Your project | The right pack | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| More responsiveness from a gasoline engine | Stage 1 Pack | Optimized torque and power, with no engine parts to replace |
| Running on E85 ethanol fuel | Stage Ethanol Pack | Engine adapted to E85, with no power gain |
| More torque from a diesel engine | Stage 1 Diesel Pack | Diesel Stage 1, with motorsport options depending on your build |
Stage 1 Pack: for a livelier gasoline engine
This is the choice for drivers who find their engine too tame. The ECU map recalibrates boost pressure, ignition timing and air-fuel ratio within the limits the stock hardware can handle. The result is felt mostly when accelerating from speed: the engine pulls harder in the rev range you actually use.
A common question: are additional parts needed? For a Stage 1, no engine parts need to be replaced. However, the ignition system must be in perfect condition (see below).

Stage Ethanol Pack: for switching to E85 ethanol fuel
This pack is not about extra horsepower. Its role is to adapt fuel injection and cold starting to E85 ethanol fuel, which requires more injected fuel than unleaded gasoline.
Many people hesitate between an ethanol ECU map and a small plug-in flex fuel box. The difference is simple: the box acts on certain signals from outside, while the ECU map works directly inside the ECU. On specialist forums, many users of inexpensive boxes report seeing no real effect.
Before ordering, check one point: on some engines, the stock injectors limit the possible ethanol percentage. If in doubt, contact us with your vehicle details.

Stage 1 Diesel Pack: for torque, plus track options
On a diesel, Stage 1 adjusts injection quantity, rail pressure and boost pressure. The torque gain at low and mid rpm is very clear, and it is often the most dramatic modification from behind the wheel.
For vehicles built for motorsport, the ECU map can include software deactivation options: EGR valve, intake flaps, catalytic converter / DPF and AdBlue. They prevent engine fault codes and limp mode when this equipment has been removed or modified.
A tip from experience: an already worn clutch does not handle the extra torque of a diesel Stage 1 well. If it is already slipping a little, plan to replace it.

Before ECU tuning: the checklist
Successful ECU tuning takes preparation. Here is what to check before plugging in the Reprog:
- A healthy engine: no warning lights on, no leaks in the turbo system, maintenance up to date. A new ECU map never fixes an existing problem.
- New spark plugs and ignition coils for gasoline and ethanol: replacing them is part of the job (details below).
- A clutch in good condition, especially on a diesel.
- A battery maintainer charger connected throughout the entire procedure.
- A backup of the original file, stored on two different media.
Why a battery maintainer is essential
During writing, the ECU must receive constant, stable power. A weakening battery or a cooling fan kicking in, and the voltage drops: this is the leading cause of bricked ECUs. A basic charger is not always enough; you need a device capable of maintaining a stable voltage. That is the role of the 12 V 10 A automatic battery maintainer charger, which we recommend with every Reprog pack.
Spark plugs and ignition coils: a must on gasoline engines
Whether you go Stage 1 or switch to ethanol, the ignition system is under more stress. Worn spark plugs and ignition coils that went unnoticed with the stock map then cause misfires. Many "failed tunes" described on forums are really just a worn ignition system. Replacing the spark plugs and ignition coils is therefore part of the job. For coils, choose Dynaparts ignition coils, designed for tuned engines.
Our most frequently asked questions
Does the pack include the device and the ECU map?
Yes. Each pack includes the Reprog OBD dongle and the ECU map for the selected pack.
I know nothing about electronics. Is this for me?
Yes. The Reprog is designed to be used without any knowledge of electronics or mapping software: you plug it in, follow the steps, and the ECU map is provided.
Do I need to remove the ECU?
No. Everything is done through the OBD port, usually located under the steering wheel.
Can I switch from one pack to another?
Each pack corresponds to a specific ECU map. If your project changes, for example to combine ethanol and a power gain, contact us before ordering to find the right solution.
Is my vehicle compatible?
Compatibility depends on the engine and the ECU. Check the pack's product page or send us the information from your vehicle registration document.

Legal information
The Reprog and its ECU maps are intended exclusively for motorsport use, on a track or private property. A vehicle whose engine ECU map has been modified no longer complies with its original type approval and may no longer be driven on public roads.
In France, modifying the engine ECU map is a significant modification that requires a new approval of the vehicle. The manufacturer's warranty and insurance coverage may also be voided.
The EGR, intake flap, catalytic converter / DPF and AdBlue deactivation options make the vehicle non-compliant with emissions standards. They are reserved for motorsport vehicles.
