Of the brands most widely available on the European market, three clearly stand out: Milltek Sport, Scorpion Exhausts and Ragazzon. Here is a full comparison to help you make the right choice.

A quick introduction to the three brands

Milltek Sport: the benchmark British brand

Founded in 1983 in Derbyshire (England), Milltek Sport is one of the best-known performance exhaust brands in the world. A long-standing VAG group specialist (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, CUPRA), Milltek has gradually expanded its catalog to cover BMW, Ford, Mini and many others. All systems are manufactured in Great Britain, in T304 or T304L stainless steel depending on the model.

Scorpion Exhausts: the British challenger

Also based in the UK (Derbyshire, just like Milltek), Scorpion Exhausts is a younger brand that has made its mark with excellent value for money. Its catalog covers a wide range of vehicles, from hot hatches to premium sports cars. Scorpion is especially popular in the French and Spanish markets.

Ragazzon: Italian expertise

Founded in Maranello (yes, Ferrari's hometown) in 1989, Ragazzon takes a different approach, combining Italian craftsmanship with premium quality positioning. The brand uses T304 stainless steel exclusively and stands out for the care taken with its finishes and welds. Ragazzon is particularly well established in the French and Italian markets.

Build quality and materials

Milltek Sport

Milltek uses high-quality T304 stainless steel (austenitic stainless steel) for the vast majority of its systems. Build quality is excellent, with clean weld beads and careful finishing. Some systems are available in T304L (low-carbon) for even better corrosion resistance. Round or oval tips are available in a polished or satin finish.

Scorpion Exhausts

Scorpion also uses T304 stainless steel, but wall thickness is sometimes slightly lower than Milltek on its entry-level ranges. Quality remains very good for the price. Tip finishes are often highly detailed, with carbon tips available on some configurations.

Ragazzon

Ragazzon is clearly positioned at the high end in terms of manufacturing. The T304 stainless steel used is top grade, and the welds are done by hand with a remarkable level of finish. Ragazzon systems are often slightly heavier than Milltek's, but wall thickness is generally greater, which is a sign of longevity.

Build quality edge: Ragazzon ≥ Milltek > Scorpion

Sound

This is often the number one criterion for buyers. And it is where the three brands differ most clearly.

Milltek Sport

Milltek generally offers two versions of its cat-back systems:

  • Resonated: with a center resonator, the sound is rounder, deeper and noticeably more discreet for daily driving. It still sounds sporty but does not bother passengers on the highway.
  • Non-resonated: without a resonator, the sound is sharper, with more pronounced crackles and pops on deceleration. It can be loud for daily use depending on the vehicle.

Milltek is often described as delivering a "clean", consistent sound with no drone at cruising speed.

Scorpion Exhausts

Scorpion tends to produce systems with a more aggressive, more present sound, even in resonated form. For enthusiasts who want a strong sound without going all the way to a non-resonated system, Scorpion is often the right compromise. Some owners report drone on certain vehicles at certain RPMs, something to check for your specific car.

Ragazzon

Ragazzon stands out with a particularly refined, well-tuned sound signature. Ragazzon systems are often described as producing a "Latin" sound: strong, full of character, but never aggressive or tiring. On an Audi five-cylinder (RS3, TTRS) or an "Italian Job" engine (Alfa Romeo), the combination works particularly well.

Sound by preference:

  • Discreet and clean: Milltek Resonated
  • Sporty with character: Scorpion or Milltek Non-Resonated
  • Refined and well-toned: Ragazzon

Catalog and fitment

Milltek Sport

Milltek's catalog for the VAG group is extremely broad: Golf GTI, Golf R, Audi S3/RS3, TT/TTRS, Leon CUPRA, Octavia VRS, as well as BMW M2/M3/M4, Ford Focus ST/RS, Mini Cooper S, etc. Milltek often offers several configurations for the same vehicle (with/without valves, with/without resonator, different tip sizes).

Scorpion Exhausts

The catalog is also very broad, with good coverage of vehicles that are popular in France. Scorpion has particularly strong coverage for Ford (Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Puma ST), Mini, VW/Audi and CUPRA.

Ragazzon

The Ragazzon catalog is more selective but very deep for the vehicles it covers. Excellent coverage for Audi (RS3, S3, TT), VW, Alfa Romeo and Fiat/Abarth. Ragazzon often offers multi-piece systems (resonator + cat-back + rear muffler), allowing extensive customization.

Scorpion Exhausts €400-€900 Best value for money
Milltek Sport €700-€1,500 Well-balanced benchmark
