The BMC ref. 206-5401, made of multi-layer oiled cotton gauze, lets through more air than paper while effectively trapping particles. Filter maintenance
Cleaning recommended every 15,000 to 20,000 km with the BMC maintenance kit (cleaner + re-oiling oil, sold separately). After washing, let air dry, then re-oil before reinstalling.
